What is editorial design? Editorial design encompasses quite a few elements, from smart compositions, creative typography to editorial layout and suggestive imagery. All this is meant to create a unity in transmitting content to readers, this is why during this process, certain guidelines and rules need to be followed. After all, what publishers want is to keep readers entertained while consuming their content because as we all know, a happy reader is a returning reader. Friday, 16 March Constructing the Double Page Spread in Photoshop First I started off by opening up a new document in Photoshop, this time it was a A3 landscape document to make my double page spread. I opened up an original image in Photoshop and edited the blemishes on her skin by using the spot healing brush tool. I also added a large headline and a smaller version of my masthead to the corner to create continuity across all the three elements of my magazine. I also added three other images to create an image column down the right-side of my double page spread, these reflect the large headline of "Many Faces I then added columns to my main body text as that is generally what they use in magazine double page spreads.

I liked all three of these designs because by looking at the layouts I can instantly think of ways I can interpret my own ideas into these different styles. I also think they are all very girly designs all by using a colour scheme of pink. This is a great idea because instantly when people see these double page spreads they know that the article displayed is aimed at a girl because of the colour scheme.
This technique entices the reader as the musician is looking directly at the audience and this encourages them to purchase the magazine. A QUOTE: Quotes appear most frequently in the middle of text but are sometimes also presented as the headline or by the picture. The quote is meant to be controversial or ludicrous in order to grip the reader. When used in the middle of text, this Is a way of making the audience want to read on and find out what the person is talking about. Another popular convention is for magazines to print the artists name in bold somewhere on the page.
